Creation Vs. Capture

In nature photography, most of the time capture aspect takes precedence over creation. Creation needs seeing an image with eyes closed - images are made in the mind while capturing process needs patience and wide open eyes. While the above image is an example for capturing the nature, the image of part of a cactus leaf probably qualifies for creation.

  2. Hi Ganesh,
Which side we lean towards either creation or capture also seems to be dependent on the subject. For static subjects ( like a beautiful flower ) preconcieved shots seem to work well but for dynamic shots ( like birds ) luck seems to play an important part in translating a mental creation into reality. In the end looks like we are happy if the creations in our mind becomes a reality but I guess we are also equally excited and happy when nature offers us something as a surprise which we did not conceive off ….

Good to see that you are blogging Ganesh. It would be nice to read your views and thoughts on a regular basis.

  3. Mahesh!

While there is an elephant of truth in what you said I think it is still possbile to pre-conceive and make images even when our subjects are dynamic. For example places like Ranganthittu Bird Sanctuary offers lots of such possibilities.
